John M. Bauman

John Malcolm Bauman, 78 of Bradenton, FL, formerly of Bettendorf, IA, passed away Friday, August 18, 2017 in Plattsburg, NY.

John was born August 1, 1939 to Melvin and Miriam (Sally) Bauman in Webster, SD. John grew up in Mitchell, SD where he attended college (Dakota Wesleyan University); started his broadcasting career at KORN in Mitchell, SD in 1958, moved to Davenport, Ia to work at WOC Radio (1960), broadcasted for Uncle Sam at AFKN (Armed Forces Korean Network) in Seoul, Korea (1964), returned to WOC to work in TV and Radio (KUUL & NewsTalk 14) in 1965 until his retirement in 1994.

John is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Miriam, and his first wife Shirley.

John is survived by his son Scott Bauman and wife Leta of Moore, OK, brother Robert Bauman and wife Dianna of Bradenton, FL, brother-in law Gary Mechtenberg and wife Jeannie of Burbank, SD, brother-in-law Glen Mechtenberg and wife Barb of Yankton, SD, wife Evelyn Sanger of Plattsburg, NY, step daughter Karrie Sanger and husband Don of Plattsburgh, NY, step daughter Kathy Davenport, and step granddaughter Emily of Briarcliff Manor, NY.
