Mildred Arlene Vlasman, 83, of Stickney, SD passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Society in Corsica, SD. Funeral Services are 1:30 P.M. Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Aurora Reformed Church in Aurora Center, SD. A Committal Service will follow at Aurora Reformed Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. Friday, February 17, 2017 with a 6:30 P.M. Prayer Service. Mount Funeral Home of Platte, SD is assisting with arrangements.

Mildred Arlene (Menning) Vlasman was born on September 21, 1933 to Clarence S. and Elizabeth Marie (Toppen) Menning in rural Corsica, SD. She was a member of the Grace Reformed Church in Corsica where she made her Profession of Faith. In 1951 she graduated from Corsica High School. Mildred was united in marriage to Bernard Eugene Vlasman on June 19, 1953 at the Grace Reformed Church. She took pride in being a wife and mother to their three children: Alan, Beth and Karen.

Mildred was a member of the Aurora Reformed Church in Stickney, SD where she taught Sunday School, Catechism and Bible School. She was also active in the Women's Guild and Dorcas Society. Mildred was very creative and enjoyed sewing, cake decorating, chalk art and painting pictures. She loved cooking for her family, no one ever went away hungry. One of her favorite things was spoiling her grandkids and great grandkids.

Grateful for having shared in Mildred's life: her husband of over 63 years, Bernard Vlasman of Stickney, SD; three children: Alan (Cindy) Vlasman of Bloomington, IN, Beth (Doug) Walz of Mitchell, SD and Karen (Brad) Skyberg of Rapid City, SD; seven grandchildren; three step grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; eight step great grandchildren; a sister, Ruth (Keith) Munneke of Edwardsburg, MI; three brothers: Virgil (Sharon) Menning of Britton, SD, Gary (Bev) Menning of Armour, SD and Randall Menning of Peru, IN; a brother-in-law, Cliff Meyerink of Platte, SD; a sister-in-law, Janet Beukelman of Mitchell, SD; along with many nieces and nephews.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Elizabeth Menning; her in-laws, Andrew and Jeanette Vlasman; a sister, JoAnn Meyerink; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Marion (MaryLou) Vlasman and Doris (Ed) Beukelman.
