Man who beat 13-year-old gets no jail time
CHAMBERLAIN—A man who hit a 13-year-old boy's head against a table multiple times while intoxicated in July will serve no additional jail time.
David Bies, 43, of Chamberlain, was initially arrested on three simple assault charges and two felony child abuse charges. Last Wednesday, Bies pleaded guilty to and was sentenced for simple assault with intent to cause bodily injury.
Bies reportedly returned home intoxicated on July 8 after being kicked out of a bar. He then grabbed the victim, who was sitting at a table eating, by the hair, then hit the boy's head against the table and into his food.
Bies was sentenced to 180 days in jail with 179 days suspended and credit for one day served. He was ordered to pay a $400 fine and $86.50 in court costs.
