SCAM ALERT: In recent weeks, residents of Jerauld County have received phone calls from scammers posing as employees of the IRS, Publisher's Clearing House, law enforcement agencies and even the Jerauld County Sheriff's Office. Many of the phone scams congratulated the individual on winning a prize only to ask for a small payment. The IRS scam told the individual they must pay money to avoid being prosecuted and arrested. The sheriff's office urges the public to never give out personal information over the phone.
