Circuit court from Jan. 3

The following cases were among those heard Wednesday during a circuit court session at the Davison County Public Safety Center in Mitchell.

Guilty pleas and admissions

• Robert Shields,18, of Mitchell, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled schedule I or II substance. He was sentenced to four years of probation.

Not guilty pleas

• William Mathiason, 33, of Bridgewater, pleaded not guilty to grand theft of more than $2,500 and less than $5,000. A trial is set for April 10.

• Lawrence Thunder Horse, 24, of Mitchell, pleaded not guilty to possession of a controlled schedule I or II substance. A trial is set for April 10.

• Steven Koster, 29, of Mitchell, pleaded not guilty to possession of a controlled schedule I or II substance and possession of 2 oz. or less of marijuana. A trial is set for April 10.

Sentences

• Casey Medicine Horn, 20, of Mitchell, was sentenced to two days in jail. He was charged with simple assault and possession of alcohol by a minor.

• Floyd Carroll, 50, of Mitchell, was sentenced to two years in prison with two years suspended and two years of probation. His driver's license was revoked for one year. He pleaded guilty to third-offense driving under the influence.

• Jeremiah Austin, 27, of Willowbrook, Illinois, was sentenced to a suspended imposition of sentence. He was also sentenced to four years of probation and ordered to serve 55 days in jail. He pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled schedule I or II substance and possession of 2 oz. or less of marijuana.

Continuances

• Robert Craig, 32, of Mitchell, was granted a continuance. A review hearing is scheduled for Jan. 9. He is charged with first-offense driving under the influence and false report to authorities.

• Jared Elcock, 34, of Sioux Falls, was granted a continuance. A motions hearing is scheduled for Jan. 23. He is charged with domestic abuse simple assault.

• Beau Mackey, 40, of Mitchell, was granted a continuance. A hearing is scheduled for Jan. 9. He is charged with a probation violation.

• Harley Miller, 24, of Mitchell, was granted a continuance. A hearing is scheduled for Jan. 23. He is charged with simple assault and second-degree robbery.

• Tyler Roubideaux, 21, of Mitchell, was granted a continuance. A hearing is scheduled for Jan. 23. He is charged with first-degree burglary and grand theft of more than $1,000 and less than or equal to $2,500.

• Jason Toulouse, 40, of Mitchell, was granted a continuance. A status hearing is scheduled for Jan. 23. He is charged with possession of a controlled schedule I or II substance.
