Mitchell men charged with stealing safes from local apartment
Two Mitchell men will appear in court in January facing charges of first-degree burglary after allegedly stealing three safes from an apartment.
Tyler Roubideaux, 21, was arrested Nov. 27 for allegedly entering an apartment through a rear window and stealing three safes, including one that contained two firearms. He later disposed of the property near Lake Mitchell, according to court documents. Eighteen-year-old Austin Rose was involved in the same crime, according to court documents.
Roubideaux and Rose allegedly admitted to police that they knew they were not allowed in the apartment, what they did was wrong and the property did not belong to them, according to court documents.
First-degree burglary is a Class 2 felony punishable upon conviction by up to 25 years imprisonment and a $50,000 fine.
Rose also faces a charge of grand theft valuing more than $1,000 and less than $2,500, a Class 6 felony, punishable upon conviction by up to two years in prison and a $4,000 fine.
