'Happy teeth' in the Dakotas, Minnesota
More than 70 percent of Dakotans and Minnesotans say they practice good dental hygiene and go to the dentist at least once a year. In Mississippi and a number of other Southern states, not as much.
These are among the findings in a new Gallup Poll on dental habits:
Minnesota (71.9 percent), North Dakota (71.4 percent) and South Dakota (70.7) percent) ranked sixth, seventh and 10, respectively, in the survey for dental visits. Connecticutians are the most familiar with their dentists, with 74.9 percent of respondents saying they visit at least once a year.
Meanwhile, 53 percent of Mississippians, according to Gallup, see the dentist at least once a year, the worst rate in the nation.
