Fire destroys barn near Menno
MENNO -- A wooden barn was destroyed by a fire Tuesday at a farm southwest of Menno.
The Menno Fire Department was notified of the fire at about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, but by the time firefighters arrived the structure was already totally engulfed in flames, according to Menno firefighter John Huber.
The structure was two miles south and one half-mile west of Menno. The address where the fire took place was not immediately available.
Within an hour after firefighters arrived, the blaze was under control, Huber said. Still, the barn has been declared a total loss.
No people or animals were inside the barn when the fire started, Huber said.
The Scotland Fire Department assisted by supplying additional water to help fight the fire.
The cause of the fire has not been determined, according to Huber.
