The family of the late governor commissioned Watertown artist Joshua Spies to paint the two official portraits of Janklow. One will represent Janklow's first two terms as governor in 1979-1987. The second will represent his final two terms in 1995-2003.

A ceremony will be held in the Capitol rotunda to unveil the portraits at 11 a.m. on Nov. 15. The portraits then will be displayed along with those of 29 other South Dakota governors on the Capitol's first floor.

The Janklow portraits were privately funded with donations from friends and former members of his staff.
