Sinkhole in downtown Sioux Falls keeps growing

SIOUX FALLS (AP) — A sinkhole in downtown Sioux Falls keeps growing.

KELO-TV reports it started a week ago just south of the intersection of 14th Street and Phillips Avenue and it keeps getting bigger.

The pit is now surrounded by construction barriers and requires a roadblock.

Public Works Director Mark Cotter says the problem is due to a failure in the pipe connecting the private property to the city's main sewer pipes under Phillips Avenue.
