Airline cuts flights between Pierre, Minneapolis

PIERRE (AP) — Air service is being cut back in South Dakota's capital city.

Great Lakes Airlines had been offering four round-trip flights a day from Pierre to Minneapolis. The airline has scaled that back to two flights a day.

Pierre airport manager Mike Isaacs told KCCR radio that the change is due to new federal guidelines regarding flying time for pilots, not passenger numbers.

City officials say passenger boarding numbers are up this year compared to 2012.

Great Lakes will continue to offer four round-trip flights a day to Denver.
