Small Black Hills fire contained after rain

CUSTER (AP) -- Rain helped firefighters gain full containment of the Grizzly Fire in South Dakota's Black Hills.

Hell Canyon District Ranger Scott Haas says lightning started the fire Wednesday in the Black Elk Wilderness, but two separate rains helped firefighters control the blaze Friday afternoon.

Haas says horses and mules also helped fire crews by packing tools and supplies in the steep, rugged terrain.

The fire covered 2.6 acres. Officials say 20 firefighters remained on the site Friday to extinguish burning materials near control lines.
