Regents approve new health degree at BHSU

PIERRE (AP) -- Black Hills State University will begin offering a new associate degree for students who may eventually want a bachelor's degree in nursing or other health care professions.

The South Dakota Board of Regents has approved a new associate degree in applied health sciences. Black Hills State will deliver courses for the degree at the University Center located in Rapid City.

Black Hills State has a history of preparing students for admission into nursing programs offered elsewhere. The new associate degree program will offer students all the general education and core classes required for admission into nursing programs offered at South Dakota State University and the University of South Dakota, as well as for other four-year health care programs.
