Elk illegally killed near Hot Springs
HOT SPRINGS (AP) -- South Dakota wildlife officials are investigating the illegal killing of an elk west of Hot Springs.
Game, Fish and Parks conservation officer D.J. Schroeder says a landowner along U.S. Highway 18 found the carcass late last week. Authorities determined it had been shot with a high-caliber rifle.
Schroeder says authorities are pursuing a couple of leads and also asking the public for help. The media reports that people with information might be eligible for a reward.
