Dakota State University athletic director resigns
MADISON (AP) -- Dakota State University athletic director Gene Wockenfuss has resigned. The reason is not clear.
Interim President David Borofsky tells the media that the school did not fire Wockenfuss. He says Wockenfuss left to pursue other professional opportunities. Wockenfuss declined comment.
Wockenfuss played football for the Trojans in the late 1970s and early 1980s. He returned to the college 10 years ago and was head football coach for two years. He was named athletic director eight years ago.
Borofsky says the school hopes to have a new AD by September.
