6 railcars derail at SD town of Bath; no one hurt
BATH (AP) -- Track damage likely caused six railroad cars to jump the tracks near a South Dakota Wheat Growers facility in the northeastern town of Bath.
Spokesman Bill Pool tells the media that the grain cars did not tip in the Thursday derailment, and no one was hurt.
Pool says a small amount of dry fertilizer might have spilled. Brown County Emergency Manager Scott Meints says there are no hazardous material concerns.
The cars were not on the main BNSF Railway line but on a spur. BNSF and Wheat Growers officials are investigating the source of the track damage.
