Wagner man arrested for hitting a law enforcement officer

WAGNER — A Wagner man was arrested for allegedly punching a law enforcement officer.

On Oct. 30, Russell Jandreau, 28, was charged with simple assault against a law enforcement officer. A status hearing is scheduled for Nov. 6.

According to court documents, at approximately 2 a.m. on Oct. 27, a law enforcement officer found Jandreau sitting on the front steps of a residence. Jandreau allegedly had blood on his shirt and dry blood on his fingers and his lips.

Jandreau was transported to the Tripp Police Department by a law enforcement officer. While Jandreau was being questioned by law enforcement he allegedly started to punch an officer and attempted to wrestle with the officer. Jandreau was arrested and taken in custody.

Simple assault against a law enforcement officer is a Class 6 felony, punishable upon conviction by up to two years in prison and a $4,000 fine.
