Winner man receives 60-month sentence for abusive sexual contact with a child
WINNER — A 39-year-old Winner man was sentenced to 60 months in custody for sexual contact with a child.
Joseph Edward Cordier received a sentence of 60 months in custody, followed by five years of supervised release, for sexually assaulting a child who was between 5 and 6 years old, according to a Tuesday news release from the U.S. Attorney's office.
Cordier, who was sentenced on April 11, pled guilty to the incident that occurred between June 19, 2007, and June 19, 2009, in Winner Tribal Housing. He was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service following the sentencing.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Kirk Alberson prosecuted the case, which was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation.
