ETHAN: Pennies for Patients raises $1,700

Ethan preschool/jr. kindergarten/kindergarten registration will be at 7 p.m. April 24. This is for anyone interested in those programs. If your child is currently enrolled in Ethan School, you do not need to attend; you are already registered. Please bring your child's birth certificate, Social Security number and updated shot records.

Our goal for Pennies for Patients was to reach $1,500. After taking all the money to the bank, our total was $1,776.47. Thanks to everyone who participated and helped us reach our goal. The winners in the elementary were: Kindergarten, pizza party; and third grade, ice cream party. In the middle school, the eighth grade won the pizza party. Congratulations, and thanks for helping kids with cancer.

The Ethan Historical Society is hosting Ham Bingo from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on April 10 at the Ethan Legion Hall. Easter hat contest (prizes for first and second) plus door prize drawings. The last game of bingo (blackout) will be played for a complete Easter dinner basket.

The CBH Academic Festival was held on April 2 in Mitchell. The results are as follows: Blake Bartscher, sixth in Senior Math; Beth Aulner, fifth in Grammar III; Danika Pollreisz, sixth in Literature IV and also sixth in American Government; Janae Gustafson, sixth in Algebra I; Zach Duerfeldt, fourth in Algebra I and second in Physical Science; and Jace Connor and fourth in Accounting I.

A spelling bee was held April 2 in Ethan. The winner of the first-grade spelling bee was Ella Pollreisz. Winning the second grade spelling bee was Rylan Gerlach. Students in grades three through six competed against each other in a spelling bee. Receiving first place was sixth-grader Erica Storm, and second place finisher was Brody Riggs, who is in the third grade.
