Driver flees after crashing into Sioux Falls house

SIOUX FALLS (AP) — Sioux Falls police have arrested the driver of a sport utility vehicle they say slammed into a house, nearly hitting a woman inside.

Authorities say the 31-year-old driver lost control shortly before 2 a.m. Wednesday and drove through the front window of a neighbor's home. The SUV went through the living room and hit the wall of a bedroom occupied by a 77-year-old woman.

The woman was not hurt, and the Red Cross was helping her find temporary housing.

The driver of the SUV fled after the crash but was later arrested at his home.

Investigators say the crash left an 80-square-foot hole in the front of the home, causing as much as $15,000 in damage.
