Woman charged with ID theft

BROOKINGS (AP) — A former secretary at South Dakota State University is accused of getting three credit cards in a co-worker’s name and charging about $36,000 in purchases and cash advances.

According to court documents, 38-year-old Kari Lynn Fuks was arrested Dec. 5 on the Brookings campus and charged with three felony counts of identity theft and two felony counts of grand theft.

A fellow secretary discovered the suspicious credit cards last month.

Fuks’ husband, Matt Fuks, served as the university’s alumni association president but is no longer with the organization.
