CRIME STOPPERS: Barrage of vehicle thefts hits Mitchell
Since Sept. 9, there have been 11 reports of items that have been stolen from vehicles that were parked in different areas of Mitchell.
Anyone with information in relation to these thefts, or information regarding suspicious activity in the area at this time, or information relating to any other crime, are encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 996-1700.
Callers do not have to identify themselves, and a cash reward is available if it leads to the arrest of the subject or subjects involved. There are no caller IDs attached to this phone line.
To send a crime tip via text message, text “MITCS” plus a message to 274637. Upon receipt of a tipster’s first incoming message, the system will auto-reply with a confirmation containing the tipster’s unique tip ID. Anonymous two-way communication can then occur between the tipster and investigators. Tips may also be submitted at www.mitchellcrimestoppers.org by email.
A minimum of $250 is paid for rewards on all Crimes of the Week cases solved through Crime Stoppers. Mitchell Area Crime Stoppers Inc. offers this reward.
To date, 340 crimes have been solved through information from Crime Stoppers.

Money, prescription drugs, 2 Garmin G.P. S. units, Samsung cellular telephone and charger, Jordan size 11.5 tennis shoes, JL Audio gray and black colored 500 watt car stereo amplifier, Sony Xplode 600 watt car stereo amplifier, blank checks from Dakota Land Federal Credit Union in Huron, SD, JL Audio 10” subwoofer in gray carpeted speaker box, metal hammer with rubber grip, gold and silver colored vinyl backpack/purse and contents, Kicker brand 12” speaker, screwdriver, Marlboro cigarettes, unknown brand compact disc player, HP brand laptop computer, two white hard cover electrical textbooks, black backpack, eight GB thumb drive, Daisy silver colored CO2 bb pistol, compact discs and case, Tool shop brand multipurpose tool, USA Gold cigarettes, four Bic lighters, children’s backpack, Orion red and black colored 12” 4000 watt subwoofer, gray 32 GB Apple IPod, one tray from tool box with hand tools, socket set, vehicle key with fob, one pair of Red Wing brand size 12E men’s boots and one pair of aviator style sunglasses. The items were valued at approx. $3,200.
