Police investigating Menno school break-in
MENNO -- An early morning break-in at the offices of the Menno Public School netted a thief a small amount of cash, said local police.
Menno Police Chief Andrew McCoy said an unidentified individual smashed a window and entered the school's office around 3 a.m. Tuesday.
McCoy said damage to the building will exceed the amount of cash taken in the robbery. He did not disclose how much was taken. No immediate damage estimate was available.
The break-in was captured by video surveillance cameras in the school, McCoy said, but low light levels did not allow capture of a readily identifiable image.
McCoy said surveillance footage showed the burglar had what he would only describe as a "very distinctive walk."
McCoy said the case remains under investigation. He asked anyone with information on the crime to call Menno police at 605-387-2426 or the Hutchinson County sheriff at 605-387-2341.
