Two deny drug charges related to local police search
Two people arrested last month after law enforcement allegedly found illegal drugs in their Mitchell residence pleaded not guilty Tuesday to several drug charges.
Brianna Rae Sonnenburg, 23, and Joshua Paul Tipton, 24, were arrested April 25 after the James Valley Drug Task Force executed a search warrant on their residence at 1116 E. First Ave., Lot 39, and allegedly found methamphetamine and marijuana.
Sonnenburg and Tipton each pleaded not guilty to possession of a controlled substance, possession with the intent to distribute more than 1 ounce but less than one-half pound of marijuana, keeping a place for the use or sale of controlled substances and violating a drug free zone -- all felonies.
Both also pleaded not guilty to possession of less than 2 ounces of marijuana, a misdemeanor.
Tipton and Sonnenburg are each scheduled to stand trial in August.
