Former Watertown bar owner sentenced for tax evasion

SIOUX FALLS (AP) -- The former owner of a Watertown bar has been sentenced to 10 months in prison and fined $30,000 for tax evasion.

U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson says 60-year-old Timothy Engels also must serve three years on supervised release and pay more than $362,000 in restitution, unpaid taxes, penalties and interest.

Engels was indicted by a federal grand jury in January on several fraud-related charges and pleaded guilty to the tax evasion count in June.
