Doctor charged with assaulting nurse in SD must pay $5,000 fine
ROSEBUD — A Pennsylvania doctor who swore at and then slammed his hand down over a nurse’s hand at the Rosebud Indian Health Service Hospital has been fined for the assault charge.
Marwan Sadekni, 67, of Greensburg, Penn., was sentenced to pay a $5,000 fine and also needs to report the judgment to his current employer and its medical board.
The conviction stems from an incident that took place on Feb. 25, 2015, when Sadekni, who worked as a doctor for several weeks at the Rosebud hospital on the reservation in south-central South Dakota, became upset with a nurse at the facility. He began swearing at the nurse, pounded on the desk and then slammed his hand down over her hand, said the U.S. attorney for South Dakota Randy Seiler.
The victim then pushed Sadekni away with her elbow and ran out of the office.
The FBI investigated the case.
