SD man pleads not guilty to sex trafficking

SIOUX FALLS (AP) -- A 34-year-old Sioux Falls man has pleaded not guilty to a federal charge of sex trafficking of a child.

Tajahn Kahlil Clinton entered the plea in U.S. District Court in Sioux Falls on Thursday, and Magistrate Judge John Simko ordered him held until further proceedings.

A grand jury indictment accuses Clinton of knowingly recruiting a child to engage in a commercial sex act and benefitting financially from the arrangement from May through December.

In a request to seal Clinton's indictment until his arrest, prosecutors said the indictment is part of an ongoing investigation targeting Clinton and other individuals.

Assistant federal public defender Tim Langley did not immediate return a call seeking comment.

A conviction on the charge carries a prison sentence of 10 years to life.
