Motorcyclist airlifted to Sioux Falls after two-vehicle crash on I-90
MONTROSE — A 47-year-old woman was airlifted to a Sioux Falls hospital with serious non-life threatening injuries Thursday morning following a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 90.
The woman, driving a 2002 Harley Davidson FLSTFI Motorcycle, was traveling in a group of five bikers northbound on 451st Avenue, two miles south of Montrose, at 7:28 a.m.
A second vehicle — driven by Andrew Heytow, 58, from Libertyville, Illinois — was traveling westbound on I-90, exiting the ramp at mile marker 373 in McCook County. The 2019 Thor Motor Coach, which was pulling a trailer, stopped on top of the ramp and then proceeded through the intersection and hit the motorcycle, according to the South Dakota Department of Public Safety. Heytow was wearing a seat belt and was uninjured.
Two other members of the motorcycle group collided with each other to avoid the crash. They were uninjured.
Charges against the driver of the motorhome are pending. The South Dakota Department of Public Safety did not release the woman's name due to Marsy's Law.
