SALEM -- One man sustained life-threatening injuries Tuesday in a two-vehicle crash eight miles north of Salem.
John Boos, 42, of Canova, was airlifted to Sioux Falls for medical attention.
Boos, who was driving north on Highway 81 at 7 a.m., crossed over into the southbound lane, and his 2003 Dodge Durango collided with a 2014 Peterbilt 389 that was hauling pigs at mile marker 70, according to the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
Charges are pending for Boos, who was not wearing a seat belt when the crash occurred.
The 50-year-old male driver of the other vehicle was wearing a seat belt and was uninjured. He has not been charged. Both vehicles had one occupant.
