State investigating Parkston child's death
PARKSTON — The South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation is involved in investigating the death of an 11-month-old child at a Parkston daycare on July 23.
According to a press release, the Parkston Police Department responded at 3:54 p.m. July 23 to an unresponsive 11-month-old child. The infant died that same day.
An autopsy is taking place and the results are pending, the release said. State officials said the investigation is ongoing and due to the nature of the autopsy, the final results will take additional time.
Parkston Police Chief Corrinna Wagner said earlier this week that there was nothing to suggest the death was suspicious but declined to discuss the matter further.
