Mitchell received 4.2 inches of snow Thursday, setting a daily record that's held since 1991.
The light, fluffy snow that blanketed on Mitchell was the most the city has ever received on Feb. 8. The storm also delayed the start of Mitchell School District schools by one hour.
The National Weather Service put Mitchell in a winter weather advisory Thursday and early Friday morning, but that was switched to a wind chill advisory Friday evening. Temperatures are expected to dip to 21-degrees below zero Friday night into Saturday morning.
The city of Mitchell was working fast and furious Friday to clean up streets and sidewalks and announced that starting at 8 a.m. Monday, it will enforce the sidewalk snow removal policy.
