Mitchell marching band continues first-place campaign
BRANDON — After placing first at the Pursuit of Excellence Marching Competition in Iowa last week, the Mitchell High School marching band continued its success on Saturday.
The marching band placed first in its class and recorded the second-highest score at the Big Sioux Review Marching Competition in Brandon. Mitchell’s score placed behind Sioux Falls Lincoln, a marching band with more than twice the number of students as Mitchell, according to Mitchell High School Band Director Ryan Stahle.
The band also received a plaque for best woodwinds.
“Our kids once again played exceptionally well (on Saturday),” Stahle said. “The kids proved that you can still have a great show and do well even though we are not a huge band. I love the kids determination and commitment to what they do. It’s awesome to witness.”
The band’s next performance will be at the Festival of Bands Marching Competition in Sioux Falls.
