Two Avera therapy locations in Mitchell have merged.

Avera Queen of Peace Hospital announced Thursday that Avera Advanced Physical Therapy (AAPT), located at 409 S. Ohlman St., joined Avera University Physical Therapy (AUPT), at 2100 N. Kimball St., on June 9.

Jeff Lee, the sole therapist who served clients at AAPT, has transferred to the AUPT location Therapists at AUPT provide a variety of occupational, physical and speech therapy services.

The purpose of the merge was to "provide efficient, cost-effective care to area patients," according to a press release.

"Merging these services into one location will reduce costs and help us keep our care affordable for patients," said Tom Clark, Regional President and CEO for Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in a press release. "We will still be able to provide the high quality and convenient care Mitchell residents have come to expect from Avera Queen of Peace. Fortunately, these facilities are located only four minutes from each other via car, so the additional distance some patients may have to travel to get to AUPT is not far."
