Woman arrested for taking hydrocodone from Mitchell residence
A Mitchell woman was arrested after allegedly admitting to stealing drugs from someone else's residence.
Laura Miller, 48, was arrested Feb. 11 after telling police she took hydrocodone from a home in Mitchell while the homeowners were away, court documents state.
Miller allegedly drove to the residence knowing there was hydrocodone inside, which she wanted to relieve her back pain. She opened the garage by entering a code on a keypad, court documents state.
Once inside, Miller took an unknown amount of hydrocodone from the bathroom and looked through other pill bottles in the kitchen before exiting through the garage door, court documents state.
Miller allegedly told police she knew she did not have permission to be in the residence and knew the homeowners were not there.
Miller was charged with second-degree burglary, a Class 3 felony, punishable upon conviction by up to 15 years in prison and a $30,000 fine; and obtaining a controlled substance by theft, a Class 4 felony, punishable upon conviction by up to 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
