Man accused of identity theft for using former roommate's debit card
A Mitchell man is accused of identify theft after using his former roommate's debit card without her knowledge to make purchases at two local businesses.
Shane Sokolosky, 21, was arrested in late January for making nearly $200 in charges to the debit card in November and December. According to court documents, Sokolosky admitted to law enforcement he made the purchases, and that his former roommate had not given him permission to use her card.
Identity theft carries a maximum penalty upon conviction of two years in prison and a $4,000 fine.
