Mount Vernon woman retrieved from car in ditch

MOUNT VERNON — A rural Mount Vernon woman was found unconscious Friday morning inside her car in a ditch and was later brought to jail on multiple charges.

Jenni Greenway, 33, does not remember how the accident happened, Davison County Chief Deputy Steve Harr said Friday afternoon. Harr said she was not impaired by drugs or alcohol.

Greenway was charged with driving without insurance, driving with a revoked license and a seat belt violation.

She was driving a 2000 Cadillac Deville, and Harr was unsure of the extent of the vehicle’s damage.

Harr said a neighbor reported seeing the car in the ditch near 396th Avenue and 250th Street at 8:07 a.m. First responders from Mount Vernon had to break out the back window of the car because the doors were locked, Harr said.

“The car went off the road, hit a field approach and ended up against some large rocks in the ditch,” Harr said. “The driver hit her head on the steering wheel and was unresponsive when we got there.”

The first responders pulled Greenway out of the car and put her on a backboard. She was later loaded in a Mitchell ambulance and taken to Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell.

She was treated for a possible concussion and was later released, Harr said.
