Fingerprints could help ID Black Hills body

RAPID CITY (AP) -- Investigators have released a better description of the body found last weekend in the Black Hills but still don't have her identity.

Someone taking photos along Iron Mountain Road near Mount Rushmore discovered the decomposed female body.

Pennington County and Rapid City authorities say an autopsy determined the woman was of middle age, possibly 40 to 60 years old, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall, with shoulder-length brunette or auburn hair.

She was wearing a T-shirt and capri-style sweatpants.

Her race could not be confirmed but she was possibly Caucasian.

Investigators believe she died sometime in the past month.

Partial fingerprints and potential DNA samples are being checked to see if they help in identifying her. Detectives are also checking missing persons reports.
