Funding for government lapses as short-term spending bill stalls in the Senate

Weather forces cancellation of skydive

Due to weather conditions Thursday night, Gov. Dennis Daugaard did not perform his scheduled skydive at Madison Municipal Airport.

Daugaard had agreed to skydive with DeLon Mork, operator of the Madison Dairy Queen, if the restaurant sold 32,000 Blizzards on Miracle Treat Day, which was Aug. 8, to raise money for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. Mork and the restaurant surpassed their goal by selling 38,412 Blizzards.

Daugaard will try to reschedule the Madison skydive.
