Funding for government lapses as short-term spending bill stalls in the Senate

Bond lowered for suspected ID thief

A judge has lowered the bond for a 22-year-old Mitchell man accused of spending $780 using debit cards and checks he allegedly stole from three vehicles in June.

Nicholas Aungie is charged with identity theft, a felony, and criminal entry to a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor. His bond was lowered Tuesday to $300 after it was set at $3,000 cash or surety at an earlier hearing.

Aungie had been arrested and released on three other bonds before Tuesday's hearing. Judge Rodney Steele said if Aungie violates his bond again, he will then be held without bond.

Aungie's case is scheduled to go to trial in October.
