Two people die in Fort Thompson fire

FORT THOMPSON -- Two people died in a house fire Tuesday night in Fort Thompson.

According to Buffalo County Sheriff Wayne Willman, the fire occurred at about 10 p.m. in southern Fort Thompson.

Willman declined to release the names of the victims or say whether anyone else was injured in the fire.

The Crow Creek Bureau of Indian Affairs is investigating the incident. Other agencies that responded to the fire include the Buffalo County Sheriff's Office, Fort Thompson Fire Department and the Fort Thompson Ambulance Service.

Fort Thompson Chief of Police Scott Shields could not be reached Wednesday. He doubles as the Bureau of Indian Affairs agent for Fort Thompson.
