Davison County 4-Hers get set for Achievement Days

Davison County 4-H members will show their stuff at 2014 Achievement Days July 29-31 at the Davison County Fairgrounds, Mitchell.

July 29 begins with a 9 a.m. dog show and 11 a.m. cat entry with the cat show following the dog show; from 1-3 p.m. open class exhibits may be entered. From 4 to 7 p.m., interview judging of 4-H display (indoor) exhibits will be held.

Cats will be released at 8 p.m. and all 4-H livestock will be entered from 7 to 9 p.m.

On July 30, from 7:30 to 8 a.m., 4-H feeder calves may be entered; at 8 a.m., 4-H rabbits and poultry will be entered.

Rabbits will be judged as entered and poultry judging will follow rabbit judging. At 9 a.m., the indoor exhibit area is open to the public.

The 4-H sheep show will begin at 11 a.m., and at 4 p.m., 4-H dairy, dairy goat and meat goat show will be held.

The community barbecue will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the fairgrounds. Tickets are $7.50 for adults and $4 for youth (10 and under) in advance and $8.50 for adults and $4.50 for youth at the door.

At 6 p.m., the 4-H fashion revue will begin and the 4-H beef show will be held at 7:30 p.m.

On July 31, the indoor exhibits will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to noon. The 4-H swine show will be held at 9 a.m. The 4-H round robin showmanship contest will be held immediately following the swine show.

At 1 p.m., all age divisions, including adult, are welcome for the skill-a-thon. A buried treasure hunt for children ages 1-7 will be held at 2 p.m. and the Ag Olympics begin at 3 p.m.

At 4 p.m., all 4-H livestock, display exhibits and open class exhibits are released and cleanup will begin.
