Language program steadily grows for Aberdeen schools
ABERDEEN (AP) -- Five years after Aberdeen public schools introduced its English as a Second Language program, it's grown to more than 40 students speaking nine languages.
The program is growing on pace with the community. The population has steadily increased since it was announced in 2006 that a beef packing plant would open. The plant opening has been delayed for years, but the more people have moved to the city regardless.
The ESL program began with 16 students during the 2008-09 school year.
