Grimsley places in Modern Woodman speech conest
Raina Grimsley, an eighth-grade student from Mitchell Middle School, earned a fourth-place honorable mention finish in the Modern Woodmen of America's National School Speech Contest.
The national winners were chosen in late July from videos submitted to Modern Woodmen of America's home office in Rock Island, Ill.
Prior to the national contest, Raina finished first out of 15 students from South Dakota and Nebraska that competed in the state/regional speech contest.
Prior to that contest, the students had already won in their local/county, city and school competitions. They shared presentations on this year's topic, "A Time When Volunteers Made a Difference."
