66th annual Czech Days to be held

TABOR -- The 66th annual Czech Days celebration will be held June 19-21 in Tabor.

Featured this year will be Mac's Carnival and Attractions on the midway and the craft fair in the school gym on June 19. The day will conclude with a baseball game with the Tabor Bluebirds against Avon, followed by fireworks.

There will also be kolache and roll baking demonstrations June 20-21 at the Information Center located in the Community Center. There will also be lectures on Czech Easter and Christmas traditions presented by Daniela Mahoney. She will also present workshops on paper cutting, wheat weaving, dough ornament making and egg decorating with hot wax, blue ink and straw/paper application.

The Czech Pioneer Village and Museum, will be open for the public as well as the Blachnik Museum. A special Czech days stamp cancellation will be held at the postoffice on June 20.

The annual parade will begin at 1 p.m. on June 20 at St. Wenceslaus Church. Various demonstrations and programs will be held throughout the day. Free concerts will begin at 6:30 p.m. and the 2014 Czech Days Queen talent contest and costume judging will begin at 7 p.m. The Tabor Beseda Dancers will perform at 8:30 p.m. concluding the day.

June 21 features the 11 a.m. Kiddie Parade. Those children ages of 8 and 12 interested in participating in the Czech Days Prince and Princess competition should be in costume for judging today. Various entertainment options will be available throughout the day.

The Czech Days Queen coronation will be held at 9 p.m. June 21, with the Tab or 1890 Band providing music for the coronation ball. For information call 463-2478.
