Corn Palace Director Mark Schilling said the show will be at 7 p.m. April 23. Tickets are $50, with all reserved seats, and are available at the Corn Palace box office at 995-8430 or

The comedian is best known for starring in the “Red Green Show,” which aired for 15 seasons from 1991 to 2006 on Canadian TV. The show, which centers on Red Green and his handyman show based out of Possum Lodge, Canada, also saw popular play on Public Broadcasting Service — with reruns still airing — in the United States.

Red Green last performed in Mitchell at the Corn Palace in May 2012 and attracted a crowd of about 1,100 people. Schilling said he expects a similar crowd this year.

“You’re going to have a certain percentage that are going to say, ‘I’ve seen it, I don’t need to see it again,’ and you’re going to have people go tell all their friends and bring more people the second time,” he said. “You have to balance those two out against each other.”

Schilling said Rocklands Entertainment is renting the Corn Palace to put on the show, just as Sunshine Bible Academy did for the Keith and Kristyn Getty concert in October and First Reformed Church did for Ken Davis last weekend. That means the Corn Palace receives a set rental fee for use of the venue, as well as a portion of ticket sales.

“It’s no-risk for the venue,” Schilling said.
