Scavenger's Journey planned this week

The Second Annual South Dakota Scavenger's Journey will take place Friday through Sunday along a 90-mile stretch of old U.S. Highway 16 and Interstate 90 in central South Dakota.

Cities participating in this event from east to west include Plankinton, White Lake, Kimball, Pukwana, Chamberlain, Oacoma, Reliance and Presho.

Shoppers will find more than 200 vendors at flea markets, citywide garage sales, farmers markets, bake sales and sponsoring specialty shops and businesses offering a wide variety of merchandise from antiques and collectibles to unique home decor, original artwork and crafts, jewelry, clothing, repurposed and antique furniture, coins, organic produce and much more. Special family friendly events such as car and tractor shows, a pancake feed, guided nature walks, kids' archery and BB gun clinics, lawnmower races, a 5K run and a non-denominational church service are also scheduled.

The Scavenger's Journey is designed to promote commerce in small communities. Detailed maps showing the locations of the flea markets, garage sales and participating businesses will be available in each community along the Scavenger's Journey.
