Opponents of a zoning change that could allow a Mitchell convenience store to sell alcohol have until 5 p.m. to submit petitions forcing a public vote on the issue.
They need to turn in 490 valid signatures from registered voters in the city to place the issue on the ballot, according to Finance Officer Marilyn Wilson. That is 5 percent of the registered voters in the city.
