Pending school board approval in January, the Scotland wrestling team will co-op with Bon Homme starting next year.
Scotland Activities Director Jim Kocer said all five wrestlers who are eligible to return next year are planning on joining the newly merged team. However, he thinks it’s a possible step toward losing the program altogether.
“We’ve got such small numbers, so I don’t think we really have a choice,” said Kocer, who’s also the assistant wrestling coach.
This fall, Mitchell High School began using a computer program to help manage athletes’ concussions. The program is called ImPACT, or Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing.
“That’s a great resource,” said Clayton Gropper, the school’s head athletic trainer for the past nine years.
