Reports show wide variance in campaign finance
District 20 legislative candidates show a great disparity on how they raised money — and how much they raised — to run for office this year. The pre-election filing deadline for campaign finance reports was Oct. 22. State Sen. Public forum on local issues is tonight at MTI
Candidates for the state Senate and a discussion of Sunday off-sale of alcoholic beverages will be featured at the second of two political forums in Mitchell tonight.The Mitchell Area Chamber of Commerce Governmental Affairs Committee is sponsoring the forum, which will be held at the Mitchell Technical Institute Technology Center amphitheater, 1800 E. Spruce St., at 7 p.m. Denny Kaemingk will be the moderator.

The Governmental Affairs Committee of the Mitchell Area Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring candidate and issues forums each of the next two Tuesdays.It has invited eight candidates appearing on the ballot for the Nov. 2 general election. The events will begin at 7 p.m. on both days in the Mitchell Technical Institute Technology Center amphitheater, at 1800 E. I didn’t expect anyone to have difficulty understanding my recent letter to The Daily Republic, but Mr. Sibson says he did. Perhaps I should clarify a few things. It is my belief that a man’s religion is his business and no one else’s. If George McGovern felt that he needed to be apologetic about his belief, that is his privilege, but that doesn’t’ mean that I have to look at it that way.November 07, 2009
