Two people involved in what the prosecuting attorney called a “crime spree” pleaded guilty in court Tuesday in Mitchell.
Derik LaFromboise, 18, appeared before Judge Sean O’Brien Tuesday morning at the Davison County Public Safety Center and pleaded guilty to three counts of grand theft and one count of aggravated criminal entry of a motor vehicle.
When Detective Devin Alfson went to give official court testimony this week in the Davison County Public Safety Center, something caught his eye.
It was the tread on the bottom of 18-year-old Christopher Zephier Jr.’s shoes. Alfson recognized it as matching an imprint found at the scene of a vehicle theft earlier this month in Mitchell.
One of three people arrested Thursday for vehicle thefts in Mitchell was hauled out of a house after barricading himself inside and claiming he had a gun he was going to use to kill himself, according to police.
No gun was found with 18-year-old Derik LaFromboise, though, and he was quickly taken into custody. Also arrested Thursday were Christopher Todd Zephier Jr., 18, and Stella Lee Zephier, 35.
